Weather — it changes all the time. Yesterday it was HOT (for January) and super sunny, and today it’s snowing hard with no sign of stopping. This website http://foehn.colorado.edu/weather/atoc1/ lets you track the weather in Boulder over a 24 hour period — check it out when you’re bored and you’ll see how varied the weather is.
Personally, I really like the city. There are a lot of great opportunities for people of all sorts of interests to get involved, it just takes a bit of work to find your niche. Boulder is not very racially diverse, which is something I don’t particularly like about it. Also, it’s more expensive compared to other cities in Colorado, especially housing. That said, it’s absolutely beautiful and there is always something to do here.
It’s hard to generalize what the people here are like, because there are so many different types of people. Like everywhere else on Earth, some people are amazing, and some people are assholes. You just have to find the ones who make you happy :)
Good luck!

All of you CU students need to check out Buff Notes if you haven’t already! Buff Notes is a great up and coming company that hires students as notetakers for classes, producing packets of notes for sale before each exam in the course. These notes are a great resource if you struggle with a subject, or, let’s be honest, never go to class! Check out their website HERE, and like them on Facebook HERE! Spread the word!

alright folks, you know what to do!
A lot of people just rent places in Boulder - most leases start in August, so your best bet will probably be to check the sublet/temporary section on Craigslist in November or December. I’m studying abroad this fall, so I’ll be on the same hunt as you! Places are more expensive the closer they are to campus/’the hill/pearl street, so pay attention to how much people are asking for rent.

If you are going to be a freshman at CU and are living in Smith this year, the Global Studies RAP has a tumblr! It is run by some super cool chicas.

what say you, followers!
While some Earthlings seem to exist entirely in digital form, we all have to be somewhere in the physical world. Beginning Aug. 8, your host here at The Smith Compound will be spending workdays writing and editing at the National Center for Atmospheric Research in Boulder.
Ride share from Fort Collins, anyone?
eyyyy followers, what say you!?
