So today me, my maam , and tissy went to Boulder to walk down pearl st. It has a bunch of cute little shops and cafe’s, and cars can’t drive down the st.
There were crazy people there, pretty much covered in hipsters. The whole town is like that. Every where you look some one is riding there bike. I loved it, it’s so nice outside i would love to get a bike and ride around instead of driving so much.
Annnd the best part, there was this old ass man with long white hair and a beard and he was chillin with this chick with dreads smokin weed in the middle of the street, and two cops walked by and didn’t say anything. The street smelled like weed. This place was made for me!
Later we drove into the mountains which are just BEAUTIFUL! omg i love it. I can’t even describe how beautiful they are!
I’m totally in love with this place! I just can’t wait to get settled somewhere and get a job and some friends!
Happy to help! Hope your move goes well :)
OK, I basically won at life today.
Woke up at 5:15am without an alarm, and went on a 4 mile run at Chautauqua just as the sun was rising.
Came home, did a bunch of push-ups (“bunch” used loosely here), showered, then finished and submitted final paper for my lexical semantics class a week early. Spent a little while catching up with boyfriend on gchat while editing an LSA Annual Meeting abstract on Wolof comparatives.
Before heading out, packed myself a sandwich for lunch with vegetables I got at the farmers’ mrkt and grilled at my friend Alec’s BBQ on Saturday.
Flashback to Sat, and me working the grill LIKE A PRO:
Went to my favorite local coffee shop, wrote & mailed postcards to various loved ones…
…and finished some readings before heading to my 10:30am class.
After class, I met with my total rockstar of an advisor for an hour over lunch (my sandwich=delicious). Overall, productive and confidence-boosting. Then had a little time to finish readings on the lawn outside the CU Boulder library before my 3:30-5:15pm class.
Had a great post-class meeting with the professor about some research I’m doing on causative constructions (which she is an expert on) in English, Japanese, and Wolof, and got some excellent advice on where to take this project next.
After, went straight to the local watering hole The Sink to meet friends, later moving to the local brewery for beer, sliders, and a banana split:
Came home, finished/submitted two homework assignments and a final paper outline, and did 40 pages of reading. (I also watched Rebecca Black’s new music video and painted my toenails. Crucial.)
Now, a bit of pleasure reading (halfway through Nothing to be frightened of by Julian Barnes) before sleep.
Almost all of us live in Boulder :)
I (Jess) am back in my hometown the rest of the summer - would anyone like to organize a meetup? It would be a nice way to welcome incoming students and any new Boulderites!
Anybody have suggestions?
happy to help <3 welcome to CO!
dear everyone,
as many of you that actually know me already know, i will be moving to greeley, colorado in approximately one month to work at the high plains library district. while i am super excited about the job and the adventure, i am heartbroken to leave all of my incredible friends behind me (i’m looking at you guys, sarah lindsay amanda ryan greg jenn and everyone else i am no doubt forgetting). so i wanted to just throw this out there - i don’t know where most of my followers are from, or if any of you even want to be my friend, but anyone out there in colorado who would like to make a newcomer feel a little more at home, i would love to hear from you. you should probably be 21 because i drink a whole fucking lot, and if you’re following me you are probably down with smoking pot, but yeah, that too. i’m really cool and fun, i swear. send me a message in my ask with your contact info, email is fine, and i’ll be in touch lickety split. alternatively, if you know someone awesome who recently moved to that big square state and is need of friends, direct them here. OK! internet, work your magic. bring me the best new friends; it is going to be fucking impossible to replace the ones i’ve got here, but maybe we can take the edge off the ache just a teensy bit. godspeed.
xx
